A Slight Hiccup

Well, we weren't able to take the car to New Orleans for the Louisiana Regional PV (Performance Verification) judging.
There's been a problem in the rear differential ever since we had it rebuilt. After it warms up for 5-6 miles, it starts to bang a bit, and then pop and bang at low speed in turns. Sometimes, when these cars with positraction rear ends sit for a while, things rust a bit in the rear differential and it takes several figure eights with the car, turning right and left, to free them up and have everything mesh.
That didn't happen for us. It just never freed itself up. So, knowing we wouldn't pass the judging event with this issue, we had to cancel the PV and pull the rear differential out.

After talking with the guy who rebuilt it, he said it sounds like he needs to remove a couple of shims inside the of it. Just a little too tight in there. So, hopefully we'll have everything back and installed next week. Then we'll drive it and see if things are smooth.
If all goes well, we're rescheduled for a PV judging event in Auburn, Indiana at the end of the month. The bad news? It's over 1200 miles away!

So, the new plan is to head out at the end of the month, truck and trailer loaded with the car, and see if we can get it done in Auburn.
Fingers still crossed!
